Solo AI Blueprint
A solo founder's operating system for shipping with AI — daily rhythm, tool stack, agent workflows, and guardrails that keep one person moving like a small team.
Who this is for
You are one person building a product, service, or content business. You cannot hire a team yet, but you can orchestrate AI agents, automations, and focused tools. This blueprint is the weekly operating system — not a list of 50 apps.
The solo stack (keep it under seven tools)
| Layer | Pick one | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Brain | Claude, GPT, or Gemini | Writing, code, research |
| Code agent | Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex | Ship features |
| Terminal agent | Hermes or similar | Background tasks, cron |
| Automation | n8n, Make, or scripts | Repeatable pipelines |
| Docs / content | Markdown in git | Source of truth |
| Analytics | Plausible, PostHog, or GA4 | One dashboard |
| Comms | Email + one social channel | Distribution |
Add a tool only when something breaks twice. Subtraction beats addition.
Daily rhythm (90-minute blocks)
Block 1 — Ship (morning)
Code, design, or publish. No AI research rabbit holes. Use your code agent for implementation; you make decisions.
Block 2 — Grow (midday)
One marketing action: post, email, outreach, or SEO brief. Batch with AI; edit like a human.
Block 3 — Operate (afternoon)
Support, admin, metrics review. AI drafts replies; you send.
End of day — 10-minute log:
Shipped:
Blocked:
Tomorrow's one priority:
Weekly cadence
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Mon | Plan week; pick one metric to move |
| Tue–Thu | Ship blocks + one growth action/day |
| Fri | Review metrics; automate one annoyance |
| Sat/Sun | Off or optional creative exploration |
Agent workflows that actually help solos
1. Research brief
Topic: [X]
Find: 5 sources, key stats, contrarian takes.
Output: 1-page brief with links.
Do not write the final article.
2. Code feature slice
Goal: [user-visible outcome]
Constraints: [stack, files to touch]
Tests: [what must pass]
Do not refactor unrelated code.
3. Support draft
Customer message: [paste]
Our policy: [paste or link]
Draft reply under 100 words. Tone: helpful, not corporate.
4. Weekly review
Paste analytics + git log.
What shipped? What moved the metric? What should we stop doing?
Decision rules (prevent AI thrash)
- One model for writing, one for code — do not re-debate tools daily
- Prompts live in git —
prompts/folder, versioned - Human approves anything customer-facing
- Timebox research to 25 minutes — then ship a v1
- Automate only after doing it manually three times
Metrics that matter for solos
Pick one north-star and two supporting:
| Stage | North-star examples |
|---|---|
| Pre-launch | Waitlist signups, demo calls booked |
| Early revenue | MRR, paid conversions |
| Content-led | Email subs, organic traffic |
| Services | Pipeline value, close rate |
Review every Friday. AI summarizes; you decide the next experiment.
Guardrails
- Budget cap: Set monthly API spend alert at $50 / $100 / $200 — pick your pain threshold
- Backup: Git push daily; database snapshots weekly
- Legal: Terms, privacy policy, and disclaimers before scaling ads
- Health: Solo sprint pace burns out — one full day off per week non-negotiable
Launch checklist + pinned prompt
- Week 1: Stack chosen; repo + landing page live
- Week 2: Core feature or lead magnet shipped
- Week 3: One distribution channel active
- Week 4: First paying customer or 100 email subs
You are my fractional CTO and marketer. I am solo. Give: (1) recommendation, (2) exact next step, (3) what to ignore. Prefer smallest viable solutions.
At 90 days: shipped product, one working channel, documented prompts, weekly review habit. Momentum beats a perfect stack.
